The Trula Whalen Concerto Competition gives students of strings and piano the opportunity to perform concerti literature. Competitors perform their concerto unaccompanied and are given a written evaluation of their performance. Those who give the strongest performances are awarded trophies. They are also awarded the opportunity to perform the concerto at a “Winners’ Recital” with piano accompaniment. Winners are unranked, and there is no limit to how many winners can be named. An application is now available on the Event Applications page. The deadline is March 7, 2012, and the chair is Paula Watt.
